Track and Field Break Records at Emory Invite

ATLANTA, Ga. – Birmingham-Southern track and field had a good showing at the Emory University Invitational this weekend.  Several Panthers scored points in BSC's third outdoor meet of the year.

"It was a productive meet for our entire team this weekend," said Head Coach Kenneth Cox.  "To have the kind of competition across events, our athletes were in a position to put their best efforts forward throughout the two days. We are excited to be home next Friday after spring break and continue to get better for SAA's in April."

Karmin Shute (Fayetteville, Ga./The Walker School) won the 200m dash in a new personal record time of 24.42.  The mark is the second fastest 200 this season. She also broke the school record in the 400m with a personal best time of 57.44.

In the 10K, Morgan Reynolds (Indian Springs, Ala./The Westminster School at Oak Mountain) broke her own school record, finishing eighth in a personal record time of 39:41.48.  And Marjorie Head (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County HS) finished the steeplechase in a new BSC record time of 12:04.82.

On the men's side, Kameren Morgan (Bowie, Md./St. Alban's School for Boys) won the hammer throw with a school and personal record toss of 58.77m.  Luke Ballard (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) also won his event.  He took first in the javelin throw with a 55.13m mark.  C.J. LeCroy (Isabella, Ala./Isabella HS) finished right behind him in second place with a 51.24m toss of his own, respectively, a personal record for him.  On the track, Jamal Watkins (Hampton, Ga./Dodge City CC)  had finished second in the 200m dash and fourth in the 100m.

The Panthers return home for their final home meet of the year, the Hilltop Classic, on Friday, March 30.  It will also be senior day for BSC.
